Growing and Harvesting
The Haschberg-Elderberry-variety for RUBINI does not grow wild, but is cultivated on more than 800 farms in Styria/Austria. Now that the cultivation exists already for more than twenty years, within the scope of our cooperation project, it is interesting to see how the elderberry bushes have altered to tree-like crops.
But why Haschberg?
The Haschberg variety ripens very evenly and delivers a high quality in large quantities. More than 8.000 Tons per year make up an average season in Styria. The berries are picked from August until September, get laser-sorted and processed. Only the best berries with the highest quality are used for RUBINI. The fruits can be distinguished by their dark, nearly black color, which is a sign for their high Flavonoid-content. Finally, this Flavonoid content - a highly active substance - gets concentrated in our RUBINI-Flavon Complex.
