Styria/Austria: Magnesium makes the difference

The Austrian Styria offers the best conditions for the growing of Elderberries: mild, moderate and humid climate, with the soil extra-ordinary rich in Magnesium. On this sour and sandy, mould- and nitrogen-rich ground, the Elderberries grow extremely well. The Magnesium-content strengthens and stabilizes the vitamin C content as well as the Flavon-content in the berry. These plant pigments account for the precious compound in our RUBINI.

In his book „Biopolyphenole and Magnesium – Südsteirische Schätze“, Prof. Dr. Sepp Porta (University of Graz) closely describes this combination of ecological conditions and the Haschberg-Variety. In particular, he examines the activating function of flavonoids regarding the immune system and the prevention of oxidative stress. These beneficial effects can be traced back to the antioxidative features of flavonoids, which are able to act as free radical scavengers. Furthermore, they can make a verifiable key contribution to the support of a healthy cardiovascular system.
