RUBINI-Science
Rubini ® ProFlavon Complex has a long tradition of natural herbal science, starting with Hippocates, prolifically researched and prescribed during the middle ages, comprehensively documented in the early 19th century and more recently scientifically evaluated for virus and bacterial activity at leading institutions in Germany, Eastern Europe, Israel and Scandinavia.
Rubini® Proflavon Complex is produced from the Sambucus nigra (Black Elderberry) haschberg variety, grown in the Steiermark, near Graz in Austria. This sub variety has a very high content of flavonoids, polyphenols and anthocyanins. Historically, elderberry natural remedies use all parts of the plant including berries, flowers, roots, leaves and bark.
Ancient references to elderberry and medicine date back to Hippocrates and Pliny. Hildegard von Bingen, in her major natural sciences work, Physica, (1158) refers to Elderberry blossom in relation to the driving away of fevers.
Our apothecary research starts with the early 1644 Elderberry Manuscripts titled the Anatomie of Elderberry, written in Latin by the Physician Dr Martin Blockwich and first translated into English in 1655. This 230 page historical treatise dedicated to Elderberry covers botany, pharmacy and 70 different ailment treatments. It makes fascinating reading and a translated summary and excepts can be downloaded for free.
Further traditional remedies and nutritional recipes using Elderberry were documented by Mrs Maud Grieve (1858-1941)and published in her famous work, A Modern Herbal, 1931. You can read excerpts and recipes here. She promoted the use of Elderberry as a well established cure for a cold.
Our own science establishes the nutritional value of Elderberry for building defences and reducing the effects of viruses and bacteria related to coughs, colds and flu.
